Operation Optimization

Compressed Air

This program is designed to help manufacturing and industrial customers optimize the operation of their compressed air systems.

It can defray 90 percent of the discovery phase cost for tuneup projects that have a simple payback period of up to one year. No-cost and low-cost energy efficiency measures that qualify for this program may include:

  • Leak loss reduction
  • Adjustment of an existing flow controller or sequencer to match plant operations
  • Correction of inappropriate uses of compressed air such as open blowing

A typical plant in the Ameren Illinois service territory can expect to see energy efficiency savings of more than 15 percent as a result of leak repairs alone! Retro Commissioning Surveys will be performed by a pre-approved RSP with proven experience and expertise in the tuneup of compressed air systems. Customers may implement their projects using in-house resources, a contractor of their choice or the RSP. The Retro Commissioning Survey may also identify capital improvement projects (1-10 year payback) that might qualify for additional incentives through the Custom Program. Ameren Illinois will continue to accept Compressed Air Retro Commissioning applications for pre-approval. Based on the size and scope of the survey, we will let you know when your project can begin.

Grocery Store

The Grocery Retro Commissioning Program is ideal for optimizing refrigeration systems in grocery stores with large cooling equipment needs.

The primary goal of this program is to provide financial incentives to support the implementation of no-cost/low-cost energy efficiency improvements (0-1 year payback) to standard refrigeration systems in typical grocery stores. Additionally, it seeks to reduce facility operating costs by optimizing the operation of grocery store energy systems. Grocery Store Retro Commissioning can defray 50-70 percent of the discovery phase cost for tune-up projects that have a simple payback period of up to one year. No-cost and low-cost energy efficiency measures that may qualify for this program include:

  • Lowering condensing pressure or raising suction pressure
  • Evaporator fan control and defrost setting modifications
  • Compressor sequencing optimization
  • Repairing refrigerant leaks or cleaning evaporator coils
  • Adjusting HVAC system settings

Retro Commissioning Surveys will be performed by a pre-approved Retro Commissioning Service Provider (RSP) with proven experience and expertise. Customers may implement their projects using in-house resources, a contractor of their choice or the RSP. The Retro Commissioning Survey may also identify capital improvement projects (1-10 year payback) that might qualify for additional incentives through Ameren Illinois' energy efficiency program.
