Benefits of Instant Incentives
Instant Incentives makes it easier for Ameren Illinois residential customers to make their homes more energy-efficient by providing upfront discounts on:
• Smart Thermostats: They provide convenience, insight, and control of your heating and cooling.
• Central Air Conditioners: According to the Department of Energy, if your central air conditioning unit is 10 years old, replacing it with an energy-efficient model could cut your cooling costs by 20-40%.
• Ducted Air Source Heat Pumps: According to ENERGY STAR, an ENERGY STAR® certified ASHP provides heating for approximately one third the cost of traditional electric baseboard heating and approximately half the cost of oil heat.
• Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pumps: According to ENERGY STAR, you can cut heating costs in half compared to conventional electric heating systems. Because they transfer instead of generate heat, ENERGY STAR certified ductless mini-split heat pumps use 60% less energy than standard home electric resistance-based heating systems.
• Heat Pump Water Heaters: According to ENERGY STAR, an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater uses 70% less electricity to make the same hot water as a standard electric model.
• Gas Furnaces: According to ENERGY STAR, ENERGY STAR furnaces are up to 15% more energy-efficient than baseline models.

How to Start Saving
Through Instant Incentives, there are two ways to receive a discount of up to $125 for a smart thermostat:
1. Contact your trusted HVAC contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.
Outside of Instant Incentives, there are other ways to receive a smart thermostat incentive. You can visit the smart thermostat webpage to learn more!
Ensure your contractor is aware of these requirements to qualify for the instant discount:
- ENERGY STAR certified – view qualifying models
- Limit 1 per residential account
- Your primary heating source must be supplied by an Ameren Illinois delivered fuel, natural gas or electric. Propane heat does not qualify.
Through Instant Incentives, there are two ways to receive a discount of up to $400 for a central air conditioner:
1. Contact your trusted HVAC contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.
Ensure your contractor is aware of these requirements to qualify for the instant discount:
- New system must be 15.2 SEER2 (16 SEER) and 11.88 EER2 (12.5 EER) or greater as confirmed by AHRI
- Maximum capacity of 65 kBtu
- Limit 2 per residential account
To qualify for incentives, you must be an Ameren Illinois electric customer.
Through Instant Incentives, there are two ways to receive a discount of up to $700 for a ducted air source heat pump:
1. Contact your trusted HVAC contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.
Ensure your contractor is aware of these requirements to qualify for the instant discount:
Tier 1: Up to $700 discount.
- New system must be 15.2 SEER2 (16 SEER) and 8.1 HSPF2 (9.5 HSPF) or greater as confirmed by AHRI
- Maximum capacity of 65 kBtu
- Limit 2 per residential account
Tier 2: Up to $250 discount.
- New system must be 15.2 SEER2 (16 SEER)
- Maximum capacity of 65 kBtu
- Limit 2 per residential account
To qualify for incentives, you must be an Ameren Illinois electric customer.
Through Instant Incentives, there are two ways to receive a discount of up to $700 for a ductless mini-split heat pump:
1. Contact your trusted HVAC contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.
Ensure your contractor is aware of these requirements to qualify for the instant discount:
- New system must be 16 SEER2 (16 SEER) and 8.55 HSPF2 (9.5 HSPF) or greater as confirmed by AHRI
- Limit 2 per residential account
To qualify for incentives, you must be an Ameren Illinois electric customer.
Through Instant Incentives, there are two ways to receive a discount of up to $1,300 for a heat pump water heater:
1. Contact your trusted plumbing contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.

- Have a residential Ameren Illinois electric account
- Select an ENERGY STAR certified model
Through Instant Incentives, here is how you can receive a discount of up to $250 for a gas furnace:
1. Contact your trusted HVAC contractor and encourage them to purchase from one of the participating distributors listed at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com/Distributor to receive a discount.
2. Contact an Instant Incentives Program Ally Contractor, who have self-attested to understand how to receive discounts from participating distributors.
Ensure your contractor is aware of these requirements to qualify for the instant discount:
- Maximum capacity of 224.9 kBtu.
- Must be 95% AFUE efficiency or greater as confirmed by AHRI.
- Limit 2 per Residential account.
To qualify for incentives, you must be an Ameren Illinois gas customer.
