The Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program is committed to helping you find ways to improve comfort, manage usage and reduce costs. By participating in one of our energy-saving opportunities, homeowners, renters and multifamily property owners and managers can save energy while lowering their costs.
The first step to find out where your home might be wasting energy is through a Home Energy Assessment. A Home Energy Assessment looks for ways to reduce your energy usage and costs. Through this Assessment, you may be eligible to receive energy-saving upgrades at little to no cost, such as improved insulation, heating equipment and ventilation.
Need financial assistance? The Energy Assistance Foundation can help! The Energy Assistance Foundation provides year-round bill payment assistance to help low-to-moderate income customers of Ameren Illinois.
Residential customers living eligible ZIP codes can receive a FREE smart thermostat.
Switching to heat supplied through electricity instead of propane not only saves you money on heating costs, but it gives you the convenience and reliability of using Ameren Illinois electric already being used in your home.
As a renter, you may feel as though you don’t have control over the energy costs in your home. But there are many no-cost and low-cost opportunities to save energy without making any major changes to your space.
If you own or manage a multifamily property, we may be able to help you and your tenants save energy, reduce water usage and lower water heating costs. Request a FREE Energy Assessment for your property. After your Assessment you will receive a comprehensive list of available upgrades and incentives that are available for your property.
Mobile Home Initiative
The Mobile Home Initiative (MHI) helps mobile home residents in eligible counties become more energy-efficient and reduce energy costs. Qualifying applicants will receive a FREE Home Energy Assessment to learn where your home is losing energy and discover ways to save on energy-efficient upgrades. After the Assessment, the Initiative will provide energy efficiency information and FREE energy-efficient products to help reduce energy usage. This Initiative is provided at NO COST and is currently accepting applications!Community Action Agencies can help eligible residential customers with financial assistance for the following services:

• Energy Utility Bill Assistance
• Water/Sewer Payment
• Employment Training/Placement
• Financial Management
• Temporary Shelter

The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP), in partnership with Ameren Illinois, helps low income residents and households reduce energy costs by making their homes and apartments more energy efficient. IHWAP also provides many health and safety upgrades ensuring safe and healthy homes. Weatherization services that can be funded through IHWAP include:
• Air sealing
• Attic and wall insulation
• HVAC repair or replacement
• Water heater repair or replacement
• Electric base load reduction (lighting and refrigerator replacement)
• Ventilation and moisture control measures (and other health and safety measures)
Utility Bill Assistance – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households pay for home energy services (primarily heating during winter months).
