The Tree Planting Initiative is partnering with municipalities to plant trees in communities across the service territory. The Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program plants trees that will provide shade and reduce energy costs for customers over time.

This no-cost Initiative plants trees in the easement areas next to customers’ yards which provide summertime shade and windbreak in the winter, reducing energy usage by up to 25%.* The trees are maintained by municipal partners with no ongoing tree care required by the customer. Beyond reducing energy costs, trees also offer benefits including beautification, health and wellness, improved air quality, increased property values and wildlife habitat.
