On Sept. 15, 2021, Governor Pritzker signed the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA). This landmark legislation puts the state of Illinois on a path toward 100% clean energy by the year 2050.

Public Schools Carbon-Free Assessment (PSCFA) Program

Created as part of CEJA to achieve 100% renewable energy goals.

To provide each school district a comprehensive document that will assist schools in their district to identify measures which will move school districts toward carbon-free energy use by 2030.

  • Energy efficiency savings opportunities.
  • Evaluation/inspection of mechanical insulation and building envelope.
  • Solar energy potential.
  • Infrastructure required to support electrification of space/water heating.
  • Infrastructure required to support electrification of schools’ transportation needs.
  • Investments required to achieve WELL or similar certification.

Various resources are available through federal, state and local entities to provide your school with funding opportunities to help with out-of-pocket costs associated with your clean energy transition.

K-12 public schools may be eligible to receive a no-cost Carbon-Free Assessment. Simply complete the Enrollment Form below to get started.

Not a K-12 public school? You may qualify for financial incentives for energy efficiency projects through the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program.

PEORIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Peoria Public Schools District 150 completed its Public School Carbon-Free Assessment and was able to identify no-cost, energy-saving recommendations, heat mapping of areas that would benefit from mechanical insulation, fleet electrification and solar panels that could save the district roughly $138,000 annually.
