It takes a lot of energy to run a school — human energy as well as electricity and natural gas. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, in many school districts, energy costs surpass the cost of books and supplies and are second only to salaries. The good news is that energy improvements have the potential to create better learning environments while saving our nation’s schools $1.5 billion each year — and Ameren Illinois can help.
The new air purification system could be easily installed on existing HVAC equipment on the library’s rooftop. As an Ameren Illinois Program Ally, ENTEC was able to utilize Ameren Illinois’ Custom offering to cover a large percentage of the project costs. The Custom offering provides financial incentives for unique projects or emerging technologies that save energy and money.
Buildings tend to shift and settle over time, creating cracks and gaps that leak air and cost money. The Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program offers incentives to help schools, businesses and organizations reduce the size of those gaps and open the door to energy savings. By sealing the building envelope and reducing energy loss, the Cahokia School District will save an estimated $25,000 a year — money that will make a real difference for students.
Bradley University developed a two-year, campus-wide control integration and spending plan — including incentives from Ameren Illinois — to become more energy-efficient. Ameren Illinois’ Metering & Monitoring offering provided a base incentive for the installation of new monitoring equipment as well as a performance incentive based on the energy savings generated from the resulting projects.
